F.A.Q.
What exactly is shock treatment?
A procedure performed in mental health facilities where they run electric current through your brain to induce a seizure. Research suggests shock treatment can reduce the symptoms associated with a number of psychiatric diagnoses more effectively than psychiatric drugs.
And forced shock treatment is really legal in Connecticut?
The statute can be found in Chapter 319i, Section 17a-543(c) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
Okay, but they don't actually do that to people, right?
Recently acquired data from the State of Connecticut Office of the Probate Court Administrator shows exactly how many times mental health facilities in Connecticut filed a request to the state probate court to perform involuntary shock treatment dating back to 2012.

So what exactly can I do to make a difference?
We ask nothing of you. But, please feel free to take action.
Sure, but, before I do anything, I've gotta know: if electroshock is so bad, why are they even forcing it on people at all?
They believe the risks outweigh the potential benefits.
And you believe?
We believe the risks do not outweigh the potential benefits.
